The Climate and Ozone Protection Alliance has successfully put a spotlight on the global need for Ozone depleting substances (ODS) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) bank management for a sustainable future. However, light alone is not enough to tackle this challenge, securing adequate financing must be secured too. COPA has taken a closer look at the opportunities and barriers for accessing finance for cooling mitigation projects involving ODS and HFC emission reductions, with a special focus on financing streams available through carbon markets and participation in Paris agreement Article 6 activities. In addition, a huge challenge for project developer is often also simply because the business part of the concept is not mature enough to apply for, or receive, financing. These ideas are not “ready for finance” and need development support to apply for available climate finance opportunities. In this section, the accumulated COPA knowledge materials and activities on the above financing challenges for ODS and HFC mitigation projects are made available.
