ABOUT THE TWG IMPLEMENTATION MODELS COPA members are invited to present ideas and collaborate on developing implementation models tailored to their needs. The working group will focus on planned or ongoing mitigation measures, sharing experiences, challenges, and successes. Topics will be determined by the members. Are you active in the field of ODS and HFC recovery, reclamation and destruction technologies? Would you like to strengthen your collaboration with partners? Become a COPA member and join our thematic working group! OVERVIEW OF THE WORK IN 2024 The Implementation Models Technical Working Group (TWG) has focused on fostering active collaboration among COPA members to tackle the challenges of managing ODS and HFC banks. A key initiative was the launch of the “Call for Ideas”, which invited members to submit innovative project proposals aimed at improving the sustainable handling of these substances. COPA provided technical and strategic support to help implement the selected ideas, ensuring their success and maximizing their impact. This collaborative approach has strengthened the network of COPA members, promoting shared responsibility and advancing practical solutions. Meetings & Documentation - 2023, December 14th: Launch “Call for ideas” The meeting presented the objectives of the Call for Ideas, fostering collaboration among COPA members. The study assessed COPA countries' readiness for Article 6 participation through ODS and HFC emission reduction and gas destruction projects, identifying high-potential scenarios for leveraging financing under the Paris Agreement. Participants gained insights into policy, technical, and financial barriers, as well as project eligibility, supporting sustainable refrigerant management initiatives. View presentation here. The working group is coordinated by GIZ.
Alliance members across private and public sectors come together in thematic working groups (TWG) to jointly work on holistic solutions needed to reduce ODS and HFC banks. Find out more about our TWG:
For an effective management of refrigerants and foams at end-of-life, suitable policy measures are required like venting bans or mandatory recovery.
Working towards the best technical solutions for ODS and HFC recovery,
Developing financial mechanisms for sustainable GHG mitigation measures in ODS and HFC banks.
Putting theory into practice and demonstrating how sustainable refrigerant management can be implemented.CONTACTS
